When the media bites into the story

When cuisine connects landscapes, past and future, stories emerge that aren’t written just in words – but in tastes, encounters and experiences.

The GO! Pasta project brought together journalists, chefs, and other culinary enthusiasts on March 31 at the Lantieri Palace in Gorica to explore, taste, and experience the rich culinary heritage of Idrija žlikrofi and Kranjska cjarsons – the heritage of filled pasta that is still very much alive and present in the everyday cuisine of this region!

At the event, Idrija’s žlikrofi not only received media attention, but also gained a new context in the modern world with the words of the storyteller Tjaša Jurman – they became a symbol of cultural identity, resilience, and creativity.

The long journey of žlikrof

Every dish has its birthplace. You have to start somewhere, don’t you? But sometimes birth isn’t a moment, it isn’t one kitchen and one pot. Sometimes a dish is like a river. It is born high in the mountains and then it flows, it overflows, it changes terrain, it gathers flavors and aftertastes – and then it ends up in the valley, as something completely its own. That’s how it is with žlikrofi.”

The event proved that tradition isn’t static—it’s alive, dynamic, and open to new interpretations, yet deeply relevant. And it’s precisely in this spirit that the GO! Pasta project continues its journey—through flavours, stories, people, and borders.
