The festival of Idrija žlikrofi invites you to Idrija once again
The annual Festival of Idrija žlikrofi is approaching, scheduled for Saturday, August 19th, in the enchanting, green park of Mejca in Idrija. In crafting this year’s event, we promise not to overlook all those little details that made last year so enjoyable. We’re also preparing some novelties, and this Friday, there will be a special event called ‘Castle Treat’ at the Gewerkenegg Castle.
This year as well, we will offer traditional and innovative servings of Idrija žlikrofi, joined by guests from the Posočje region and Tolmezzo (Italy).
We will once again ensure good wines and beers, and we are also joined by the Idrija-Cerkno Small Livestock Breeders Association, which will prepare a traditional mutton dish called ‘bakalca’. The Tourist Association will demonstrate the making of Idrija žlikrofi live, allowing you to experience and learn about the production of our unique culinary specialty.
Once again, street ethno ensemble Suho cvetje will provide music, and as Ensemble Ikebana, they will join us for the evening program. The JagerChef competition between 8 hunting associations in cooking game stew will also take place.

Once again, there will be numerous novelties
In 2023, we are adding several interesting points that will undoubtedly attract a diverse audience:
The stars of TV screens cook Idrija žlikrofi.
At this year’s festival, Brina Robinik Kobal and Klemen Skubic from the show ‘Šef doma’ will present themselves. Brina is known for her charming appearances on the show ‘MasterChef Slovenija.’ She brought a slightly different flair to the show with her homemade flavors, especially excelling in sauces. Therefore, the Festival of Idrija žlikrofi is the perfect place for her. Klemen Skubic, on the other hand, is a young trained chef who honed his skills at Monsteri with Bine Volčič and at the CUBO restaurant. We’ve seen him in our living rooms on the show Šef doma.’ This time, Klemen joins us in our shared dining room in Mejca Park!

The Žlikrofi Žigon team has invited MasterChef Slovenia semifinalist, Niko Marolt, to collaborate this time. He will prepare a ‘zerowaste’ sauce for the Festival of Idrija žlikrofi!
Pairing Idrija žlikrofi with our wine selection
We are curating a range of wines that will complement our food offerings. We will happily recommend the right combinations to enhance your dining experience! Sommelier Dejan Levpušček will assist with expert selection.

Home handcrafts and artisan presentations.
The Idrija-Cerkno region has a rich tradition of craftsmanship – come and discover it! We have prepared several practical workshops and presentations for you:

– Kamišibaj story ‘Tale of the Life of J. A. Scopoli’ (led by Tina Zadnik)
The workshops are supported within the framework of the project ‘Common good‘.
Faster purchases, clearer ordering.
The goal is simple – less waiting, easy shopping, getting žlikrofi faster. This year, we will enable payments with a special card, which you can keep after the event and enjoy special benefits!
The Castle Treat at the Idrija Gewerkenegg Castle
In collaboration with the City Museum of Idrija, chef Nejc Lenič, and sommelier Dejan Levpušček, we are also preparing the Castle Treat on Friday, August 4th. The event will combine the rich tradition, local high-quality ingredients, and bold modern approaches in the beautiful ambiance of the Gewerkenegg Castle courtyard in Idrija.
You will discover the hidden stories of Idrija and explore lesser-known local breeders, producers, and manufacturers using local, high-quality, and authentic ingredients. The evening will be enriched by the musical accompaniment of the Con Anima quartet. The event is sponsored by NLB.
