The Festival of Idrija Žlikrofi received the Jakob Award.

The Festival of Idrija Žlikrofi has been awarded the JAKOB AWARD 2024 – an international award for innovation, quality, and excellence in tourism – as well as the title of Ambassador of Innovative Tourist Events.

We were honored and also slightly surprised when we received the news that the Jakob Award for 2024 was bestowed upon us, the ID20 Institute – Institute for Innovations in Heritage. We accept this award with some surprise, primarily because, considering the other participants in the selection, we truly did not expect it.

This is definitely a significant confirmation of everything we have been doing over the years. Particularly because the innovation of this event was recognized, even though it is primarily focused on cultural heritage or culture.

Žlikrofi are becoming popular among the youth.

The committee, comprised of Prof. Dr. Janez Bogataj (committee president), Bojana Rogelj, Karmen Razlag, and Ylenia Loredan, justified their decision as follows: “The Festival of Idrija Žlikrofi is also an exceptionally innovative festival in the Slovenian space, predominantly organized by young individuals who enhance it year after year with modern content, thus bringing Idrija heritage closer to new generations. They interpret heritage content in a distinctly modern way, ensuring the continuity of local identity.”

We welcome the award for innovation in the field of cultural heritage as an even greater affirmation that as an institute for heritage innovations, we are moving in the right direction.

We also want to emphasize that the award brings affirmation to all the volunteers and the team behind the festival itself, who essentially live with it throughout the year. We believe that all the energy invested in the festival is reflected and felt during the event in an exceptional and positive atmosphere.

We, of course, share the award with:

• The Municipality of Idrija and the Local Community (KS) of Idrija City, which have been supporting us throughout the years,
• With the Idrija-Cerkno Development Agency and the Youth Center Idrija, which organized the event before us,
• With the Idrija Tourism Institute, which has been supporting us all along,
• and with numerous providers and participating organizations, as well as with you, the lovers of Idrija žlikrofi!
